Getting started with IPv6¶

Introduction¶

This guide is intended to be a "fool proof" getting started with IPv6 guide. It utilises paid services (like the https://IPv6VPN.ch) from ungleich.
The objective is to give you hands on experience. You will need at least one Linux computer to follow this tutorial.

Step 1: get IPv6 connectivity¶

• Go to IPv6VPN.ch and get an IPv6VPN
• Ensure that you can ping the IPv6 Internet
• At this point you should have a working /48 network

Step 2: setup basic firewall¶

• Ensure that you have the nft command line utility

Step 3: manually enabling IPv6 forwarding¶

Step 4: distributing IPv6 addresses¶
