We originally wanted to use Pleroma (= ways more lightweight) but it does not play well enough with IPv6 in early/mid 2020 so we used Mastodon (= original ruby implementation) instead.

Nginx and certificates are cdist-managed but the installation itself has been done from sources by hand following: https://docs.joinmastodon.org/admin/install/
