To be able to support the full routing table and to mitigate the current routing problems, we wil replace all four routers this weekend.

• Prepare / check replacement hardware
• Test cdist manifest/types with alpine
• Replacing router1.place6
• Replacing router2.place6

Sunday¶

• Replacing router1.place5
• Replacing router2.place5

Expected outcome¶

• 4 new routers with updated OS and routing daemon
  • Upgrading to Alpine 3.10
  • Upgrading to bird2
• Routers with full routing table in table
  • Allowing us to traffic shape on different uplinks better
  • Also required due to the loss of the default route next week
• A couple of short downtimes during the two days
  • When changing the active router in the data center, it might take a few seconds for fail over to be active
• Removal of keepalived for routing
  • Switch to BGP / loopback based redundancy
